Following Jesus’s Example

Think of His example. The shame and humiliation of the cross were not too much for Him. He endured it all because He knew the joy that lay ahead for Him. Look now, He is seated in the place of honor next to God in heaven.”

Hebrews 12:2

To get up every morning with new courage requires a lot of self-discipline. It requires positive thinking, perseverance and faith. Our days are not always happy and there are times when we feel tired, overwhelmed, upset and worried. It is during those times that our faith can begin to weaken and we may feel even more discouraged.

Today, think about the path that Jesus walked for us. Not for a moment did He shrink back from the road of suffering.  He endured torture, humiliation and severe suffering fo us – He knew that He was doing it for every believer who has the courage to follow Him.

He did it so that you and I may one day share in the indescribable joy and freedom with Him in the new world.

Jesus showed us an example of how we should endure our own burdens:

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Let us thank Jesus today for the suffering He endured for us.

Let us follow the example of our Lord, and under all circumstances remain faithful to our Father throughout life.

We know that His grace carries us forward. And the promise of His return to Earth to take us from our suffering into everlasting life with Him is closer than we think.
